responce to our youtube game

we played the game infront of the group to get some feed back to make the game better, one of the biggest thing was the audio as there was alot of wind playing in the back round. we didnt notice this when editing so we didnt do anything about it, and there was aso some problems with the clips being to long so we re skined the game making it shorter and less boring because this was a problem which people found with the game.

4. You might notice that some jobs are advertised by job agencies. What is a job agency and how do they make their money?

A job agency is a company that makes its money by getting jobs for people there are 2 main ways they make their money one of them is, when the employee gets the job his/her pay will go to the agency and a percentage of that will go to the company and the rest will go to the employee, or the other way is that the employer will pay both parties per month and they make their money by doing that.

5. Explain what is meant by 'Permanent' and 'Contract' in the job market.

Permanent and contract jobs have one big difference which is the pay the contract employee is played double that of the permanent job but the reason for it being double the amount of the permanent, is that the contract job is very risky and its temporary.
With a contract the employer can sack or fire the contracted the employer at any time as they are on a contract, the permanent job is a lot more reliable, than a contract also with a permanent job you will keep that job for a long period of time compared to the brief contract that the other have.

6. Find at least two other sources for job advertisements in the interactive industry and link to them.

http://www.computingcareers.co.uk/
http://www.cwjobs.co.uk/

7. Besides advertisements, how else might you meet potential employers?

At massive conventions that a large amount of employers in the subject meet to find fresh talent, and to advertise the company and these events are great way to meet people in the industry and get feedback from them on how to get a job. These are also a good way to find out about the industry from people who work there, you can also meet these employers to find out if they have any jobs available.

research assignment pokemon update

Market research is used by companies across the world to find out what area of the market and what country will their product be sold more in to get a better target audiences. So what the companies do is they get questionnaires and do surveys on a small part of the population and see what products there buying and from where. This is one of the many ways companies and governments find out information, They get some of this information from the internet and from going to houses to find out what types of people will use the product and what locations that it will be used in, cities, towns, villages places like that. They use primary source’s compared to secondary as primary is more reliable as primary research is research you have done yourself compared to secondary which is someone else is work which you don’t know where they got the information from.
What I have found about Pokémon is that they don’t do research but the parent company Nintendo dose a lot of market research and a lot of this is free to the company, due to a large amount of people logging onto there Pokémon websites. These sites are full of questioners and with every purchase online of the games and merchandise the person submits their personal information most of this can’t be used but the address of the person can be. This allows the company to build up a picture of what areas of the world the sales of Pokémon are high, and then they can market the product to these high interest locations.
The products must be market to a specific demographic, when Pokémon first came available for the public it was marketed towards children between 6-10yr but into days society people of all ages are buy Pokémon and it become one of the world’s largest franchise. The company has changed its target demographic from 6-10yr to 6-18yr but people of an older nature still buy the product for the younger audience. Nintendo use’s both types of data Quantitative and qualitative, which is data made up of numbers which is Quantitative like statistics and other data using number. Compared to qualitative which are questionnaires and forms of text. These both have their advantages in a company like Quantitative is good for gathering numbers to create reports and statistics on a topic by looking at the numbers but with you can look at the opinions compared with just number this allows the company to see the feelings the customers and target audience have.
The disadvantage of not doing market research is that you are launching your product blind as it were and as a result they would most likely be marketed in the wrong locations, and to the wrong demographic with this problem the product will have the sales will be low. So you must always do research before you release your product so that you don’t sell it to the wrong demographic. They must also take into count the social-economic as some people can’t get access to the video games but they can get the card game so the economic status of the people who you are marketing too is very important as you must make sure the majority of the people can afford it.
Pokémon the product has been constructed to appeal to the younger audiences; the games and the animated tv series use bright colours and the idea of collecting and greed. When people are younger they are naturally greedy and this idea of “gota catch’em all” is based on the idea that all children are greedy and what to be the best. Also the games have been altered for different cultures so they can get a better feel for the character this also allows the children to relate to the games and tv shows more.
This not just visible in the language but also some small things are changed like the food and the clothes these are just some of the most simple to notice, but there are other things like the way the laugh this is all done to make the viewer capable to relate to the characters more and in so want to follow the game and TV show more.
Pokémon has a massive amount of fans worldwide this has created the capability for Nintendo to create Pokémon convections and sell the games and merchandise even more but this fan base has not been here forever. There have been some big problems with Pokémon but the worst and most well known is when a Pokémon form the TV show flashed and caused epileptic fits in children. There has been other controversy like one of the Pokémon cards had a reveres swastika which made the Jewish community very angry. But with Pokémon there is to main set of fans like the mainstream the most loyal but you also have the sub main stream a lot of these are adults and more of the older generations.
Media companies across the world use market research from places like the NRS (national readership survey) this research is used to look at and compare different types of households which are put in category’s which are based on income, outgoings and job type A-E to find out which one is more likely to buy the product or use it. Pokémon brand is a hard one due to the survey only is allocated to people 0ver 18 so they must use the information about their parents of younger children, but that isn’t a problem because the parents buy the games so the information is available but you just need to do some more in-depth research which is demographic.

youtube

locations that we would like to have in our videos are places that you wouldnt see a reporter like a feild or a middle of a road, we have brainstormed alot of idea of where to film and the plan is to have the opening part of the video in the middle of dorchester road.

youtube

to day i have sent out an application form for the filming, this was needed for health and saftey and also for permission.

also have been working on the risk assessment and looking into how we ould of been harmed in the filming and all the diffrent ways that we can counter theses from hapining, like what will happen if you crashed.

crashing is something that there will always be a risk of that so what you must do is prepare by making sure brakes work and that that all saftey equipment is working and seat belts are on.

Youtube video

to day we have been filming a new video for our intereactive youtube game as we discuseed our already done video with julian and discovered that there was multiple problems with it and it wasnt very funny.

so we looked at a comedy classic monty Phython for help.
so our plan is to usea sketch simular to the ones that you will will find in the monty phython films and use a sound dub over the video. we will use audio from thefreesoundproject and then use there audio to help or project along

Super Mario Interactive Adventure Game!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgbuHms0-fU
Is another game that we had a look at and thought making as the game took a lot simple video clips and put them together, compared to the other games this one dose not have any large amount of animation which will make our job a lot easier but would take more time to film. The video advanture had many good and bad points but, I thought overal it was very good and the actors added hummour to the video which keeps the viewer intreseted in the video for longer and so people will watch the video to the end.
Mat
I think the adaventure was fun and exiting and pretty funny which was great keeping me envolved in the video to the end. But the video was easy to cheat and get all the right answer as the video’s are all in order on the right. Which is a let down for the video and made me think that the video's were worse than they actually were.

impossible quiz research

Our plan is to create a YouTube version of the impossible quiz; we will have a look at what quiz type games are available on YouTube at this time. We shall look at the games to find out what makes them good and what makes bad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIlw1z-gqP0&annotation_id=annotation_766943&feature=iv

this game is the
The Impossible YouTube Quiz: An Interactive Game

Mat
which i found very good but very easy to cheat on compared to other games, we also found while we play the time we had to answer question was short which made the game fun but we were able to use the pause feature to stop which made the game boring. The questions and tile of the game was brilliant and we found a lot of the questions were pretty hard but that was good.
Adam

I thought that the Impossible YouTube quiz game was ok, it didn’t carry the same theme as the normal one on the internet which was a bit disappointing, although the questions were still random as hell.
Harley

When playing the already existing impossible quiz game I realized its potential hadn’t yet been reached. There were many problems with their existing quiz mainly the time limit was too small this encouraged cheating. Another problem with the quiz was that the answers for the questions were sometimes too hard causing me too lose interest. Good things about this game was that the hidden answers where actually hidden by the white background and not sticking out because of the box, as a whole I was very impressed but still think we can improve on it

Key points that is good.
· Good amount of questions
· Fun questions
· Hard questions
· Simple questions
· Time limit
Key points which we think are bad
· The game is simple to cheat as the reset of the questions are on the right hand side
· You can cheat with time limit by pausing
· Some of the boxes text you can’t see
· Some time limits are too fast
· You can see the click boxes when the video is loading

With the key points nailed we can have a look at our plan and change it so that we can include the good points and get rid of the bad ones, one of the bad points of when the video loads up you can see the buttons are plan is to have a blank page for a second or so or so.
Also we think that overall that the video game wasn’t very funny and was lacking and alot of the humour that was in the game was very poor quality so we wish to make ours of a much higher quality humour.

filming

so far we have done the first part of the filming and it has come out much better than our first attempt we have taken the advice of Julian and are making it more of a sketch like Monty python, seams random but has an under lining storyline

interactive ethnics copyright

copyright is the protection of phsical expression of an idea, when the idea takes form like a picture, paintings and then its protected under copyright law. with in the copyright law there are 3 moral rights:

The right of attribution – the creator of a work has the right to be identified as such
The right of integrity – the work may not be altered or changed without consent
False Attribution – a work cannot be attributed to a creator falsely

the problem with interactive media is that there is so much content on the internet that is under the protection of the copyright laws. images and videos from accross the web have all got some form of copyright but there are a small amount of images and videos and other content that you can use in your webs sites and and so on but must give credit to the creator. but the internet is making finding out what copyright rights on a peace of content very hard to find and in so a lot of people just don't care were they get there images, videos and other physical objects. the other problem is that its almost impossible to monitor the internet, and stop people putting up ilegal content.

illegal downloading is harming the industry and as this damage is taking affect music, moves and video games will slowly stop being produced as a result of not making enough money. the industry will collapse and millions of people with jobs with in the media industry will lose them which in turn will destroy the economy so the moral of illegal down loading is extreamly wrong.

downloading content from the internet illegally is like stealing cars if people keep stealing them the companys will stop making them because they are not making enough money.

Creative Commons is a prince able like copyright but allows the original creator choice what people can do with there copyright allowing them to give people the capability to use there media in other work. most of the time with the Creative Commons they use it to allow people to edit or modify there work, which is good for the internet.

xploitme's photo

if there were no laws like copyright there would be no media as we no today as large companys cant make any profit, so alot of the video games and music wouldn be avaiable to purchase like it is today.

Privacy

privacy and user information online has been in the media spotlight for many difrent reasons and the issue of someones private life online is certainly being used by the media at the moment. especialy with the news about super injunction hitting a all time high as people are now getting interested in the new way that the rich and famous can hide there secrets, but one of the most biggest problem is that the average person cant afford an injunction.
but there are arguments that when people place content online on sites like facebook and then complain that everyone has access to it even thou they put it online for everyone to see .whereas others will still say no matter what it is always you still have the human right to complete privacy online.
